Vellum is a furniture design competition offered at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for all students interested in design. I chose to design a record player stand that was designed with my thesis in mind - Redesigning Comfort.  A design meant to showcase how memories are continuous and form part of a whole. With the help of my Professor Jermaine Washington and the CAED wood shop, I was able to make my design come to life.
Line and Groove
Memories are continous, one after another creating part of a whole. Single line drawings represent how life can take many turns but eventually ends up at the same place. Line and Groove explores the concept of a single line drawing, intersecting memories creating a rythmic pattern much like music. Music and architecture are intertwined through shared concepts like rhythm, harmony, proportion, and texture, creating a holistic artistic experience. Both art forms use these elements to structure and organize their respective mediums – sound and space – to evoke emotion and convey meaning.
